BACKPACKS FOR KIDS: Lynn Wanless (left), Mary Shane (right), with Mike and Linda Hay, pack bags for kids in need of weekend food on Wednesday, April 13. The Backpacks for Kids program provided 380 head start and primary school children in Goldendale, Roosevelt, Wishram, Klickitat, Dallesport, Lyle, Bingen and White Salmon with weekend food. The program has been providing kids with a wide range of food for about four years. Everything stays anonymous; the volunteers don’t know who is getting the food, only that it is going to a kid in need. With the current costs of keeping the program running, additional funds are needed to extend it past next fall. Donations can be sent to Goldendale United Methodist Church
